The last 3 months feel like 6 months, a good sign I suppose.
In this time the following happened:
– I left my job at Dell.
– I cycled the length of Ireland for charity with some friends from Cork Boat Club.
– Handed over the reins of Captaincy of Cork Boat Club to Sean O’Sullivan.
– Became a Godfather to one of my cousin’s children in France.
– Moved out of my houseshare in Blackrock and moved country to Berlin, Germany.
The positives since my last blog post 2 months ago have been that I now have a better routine and no other external things to worry about or focus on really. However, now its crunch time and enough money must be made to cover rent and essentials.
Many more improvements have been made to the software I’m selling in the last few weeks but more features don’t pay the rent. I’ve learned to run different advertising campaigns on Facebook and designed several different advertisements along the way. The problem with advertising is it also costs money! Next up will be some direct customer engagement over the next 2 months to try and reach customers directly via phone & email. My runway still looks good, mainly thanks to the good performance of my stocks over the last year.
I am really enjoying Berlin, having been here a month now. The place is a real melting pot of different nationalities and everyone speaks multiple languages. The public transport is amazing and the city really looks/feels like how a proper city should be run & designed. Rent for a capital city is relatively cheap and is pretty much the same as what I’d be paying if I was still living in Cork. I’m currently paying 500 a month in a house share with 3 others in Mitte a district in the very center of Berlin.
Lockdown in Berlin is currently in progress and due to last at least another 3 weeks. When cases lighten off or a vaccine gets rolled out I have another idea I want to test on the market and have a small website ready to go for when that rolls around. Think of meetup.com but more social/local/interesting small scale – with payments integrated.
I also want to learn german at some in-person German language classes once lockdown lifts as I’ve always wanted to learn a third language!
